Whitening uses a peroxide-based gel that acts on the pigments in the enamel and dentine. It lightens the natural colour of your teeth, but it does not change the shade of existing crowns, veneers or fillings.
At the practice we offer home whitening: custom-made trays produced from an impression of your teeth, and a professional-use product whose concentration is regulated by law. You use it at home following the protocol explained by your dentist, with follow-up so the treatment can be adjusted.
Fee: home whitening is charged at CHF 550.– (see the Fees page). A quote is given after the examination.
We check your teeth and gums, and first treat any decay or other problems.
An impression of your teeth is used to make trays that fit your mouth.
You wear the trays with the gel, for the length of time and at the frequency your dentist indicates.
We review progress with you and adjust the treatment if needed.
Whitening is for adults only, after an examination of the mouth.
Temporary tooth sensitivity or gum irritation can occur. Please tell us: we will adapt the treatment.
The result varies according to your starting shade and is not guaranteed. It can fade over time, particularly with coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco.
As a precaution, whitening is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Avoid DIY remedies (bicarbonate of soda, activated charcoal, lemon, vinegar): they can damage enamel or irritate the gums.
Carried out under dental supervision, with a suitable product and following the protocol, it is considered safe for healthy teeth. Temporary sensitivity is possible.
It varies from person to person. Food, drink and tobacco can stain teeth again; regular scale and polish helps keep them smooth.
Home whitening is charged at CHF 550.–. We provide a quote after the examination.
