Children's dentistry in Nyon

From the first visit to regular check-ups: a team that takes the time to explain every step to children and parents.

A first visit without stress

We recommend a first visit around the age of one, or within six months of the first tooth coming through. This first appointment is mainly about getting to know each other, looking at the teeth and answering your questions.

From the age of 3, one check-up a year may be enough if the risk of decay stays low. More frequent visits are advised if the risk is higher.

What we offer

Regular check-ups to spot decay early and follow how the teeth are growing.

Cleaning sessions with our dental hygienists, adapted to the child's age.

Prevention advice for children and their parents: brushing, diet, fluoride and, where needed, sealing the grooves of the permanent molars.

Treatment of decay in baby teeth and permanent teeth, and care after knocks and broken teeth.

Our experience

Dr Jonathan Barthélémy worked from 2006 to 2013 at the Geneva youth dental clinic. He also treated children under general anaesthesia at the HUG children's hospital in Geneva. You can find the background of the whole team on the Team page.

Advice for parents

Brush your child's teeth twice a day from the first tooth, with a fluoride toothpaste suited to their age. Your dentist will tell you the right amount.

Limit how often sugar is eaten: it is not just the amount that matters, but how many times a day the teeth are exposed to it.

Do not let your child fall asleep with a bottle containing a sweet drink or fruit juice.

Talk about the dentist in a positive way and avoid frightening words.

Fees for hygiene sessions

A session with the hygienist costs CHF 85.– for children under 10 and CHF 128.– for ages 10 to 16. See the Fees page for details.

Frequently asked questions

At what age should we come for the first time?

Around the age of one, or within six months of the first tooth coming through.

Do baby teeth need treatment?

Yes. They are used for chewing and speaking, and they hold the space for the permanent teeth. Decay in a baby tooth can cause pain and infection.

My child is afraid of the dentist. What can I do?

Talk about it simply before the appointment, without dwelling on pain. We take the time to explain and go at their pace.

What should I do if my child breaks or loses a tooth?

Stay calm and call us on 022 363 11 00. See our Dental emergency page for what to do.
