General dentistry

Annual check-ups, treatment of cavities, emergencies: we look after the oral health of the whole family, from the first baby teeth through adulthood and beyond.

The annual check-up

A regular check-up helps detect problems early, while they are still simple and quick to treat. For most patients, once a year is enough; we adapt the frequency to your situation.

During the check-up, we examine in particular:

the condition of your teeth and existing fillings;

the health of your gums;

the soft tissues of the mouth and the jaw joint;

if needed, X-rays to see what is not visible to the naked eye, between the teeth or under fillings.

The check-up is often combined with a dental hygiene session (scaling and polishing).

Cavities and fillings

A cavity gradually destroys the tooth. In the early stages it is often painless, which is why regular check-ups matter. The earlier it is treated, the simpler the treatment and the more of the tooth is preserved.

How the treatment works:

local anaesthesia for a comfortable treatment;

removal of the damaged part of the tooth, keeping as much healthy tissue as possible;

a composite filling, a tooth-coloured material;

bite check and polishing.

If the cavity is deep or the tooth is badly weakened, a root canal treatment or a crown may be needed. We always explain the options before starting.

Dental emergencies

Severe pain, a broken tooth, swelling of the cheek or gum, a lost crown or filling: call the practice as soon as possible. We do our best to see you quickly. Outside opening hours, use the emergency number shown at the bottom of the page.

While waiting for your appointment:

for pain, take your usual painkiller as directed on the leaflet;

for swelling, apply something cold to the cheek (ice wrapped in a cloth);

broken tooth: keep the fragment and bring it with you;

adult tooth knocked out: hold it by the crown, do not rub it, keep it in milk and come in immediately.

If you have a fever with significant swelling, or difficulty swallowing or breathing, go to the emergency department or call 144.
